COMO Companies Culture

COMO Companies culture

For the past five years, you’ve known us as Columbia Marketing Group, a.k.a CMG. We may have a new name now, but one thing that will never change is our company culture and how we do business.

COMO Companies is committed to three fundamental ideas; care for the cause, care for our community, care for ourselves. As individuals, and as a group, we work every day with these ideas in mind.

Care for the Cause

Everything we do has an objective, a goal. Our team works together to deliver high-quality products, on time, without pissing off our co-workers or the client! We actively respect the product, process, and the people. We take responsibility for delivering on what we promise.

Meaning, we do whatever it takes to make that happen. We are not bound by roles or job descriptions. We know it takes us all, chipping in, to meet our objectives, and some times that means going the extra mile.

We always prioritize the mission. We understand that our company stems from our love for mid-Missouri, small business, and healthy team dynamics. For the sake of that mission, we collaborate always, yet respect clear decisions by the person responsible.

Care for our Community

Every business would love to say they never have problems. But we all know that’s not reality. The best way to handle a problem is to acknowledge it early. We open and honestly embrace conflict before it becomes toxic. We share concerns when they are a 10% problem, before they become a 70% problem.

We acknowledge the difference between a problem to solve and a tension to manage by sharing feelings appropriately. We agree to give the benefit of the doubt and work to understand where the other person is coming from. We process our emotions before venting, qualify the conflict, and respectfully give constructive feedback.

Conversations are inevitable. Gossip is avoidable. We commit to talk about a problem with someone who can solve it. We understand that gossip is a fireable offense.

If a problem arises, we embrace both sides of the coin. We must know the whole person (personality, skills, and strengths) and understand that we can’t eliminate the qualities we dislike without damaging the ones we love.

So how do we handle this? We communicate with perspective. When problem solving, we let our co-workers know if we’re talking about a $10 or $1 million-dollar issue, and everything in between.

Care for Ourselves

We embrace the saying, “work hard, play hard.” We give 110% to the job during office hours, but also prioritize rest, down time, self-care, and self-awareness. We take advantage of the time given by the company to divert daily, withdraw weekly, and abandon annually.

Understanding our emotions allows our work to keep us emotionally healthy and keep our emotional cups from overflowing. We strive to bring our full and best selves to our jobs (and lives) daily.

COMO Companies is a small business full of people with big hearts and big ambitions. We strive to create the best product for our clients, while creating the most productive work environment.
